Qualified by the National Society of Fund Raising Executives, I have over 35 years of results-oriented experience in Business Management, Systems Development, Marketing, Fund Development, Public Relations, Training and Technical Assistance for clients in the arts, social services, education, religion and politics. I have facilitated raising over $75 million through direct mail, special events, foundation and corporate solicitations, sponsorships, planned giving and major gifts.
REPRESENTATIVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS
STRATEGIC PLANNING
• Administered operations and fundraising for the American Trust for the British Library allowing the organization to send more money than in any previous year to the British Library
• Created, implemented and evaluated a national program for chamber ensemble residencies for The Paul Foundation, the only foundation devoted exclusively to fostering chamber music; honored by Chamber Music America at its Annual Dinner
• Created a business plan for the Institute for Youth Entrepreneurship that projected sales going from $50,000 to $1,000,000 over five years and successfully sold it to private and empowerment zone investors
BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
• Developed case statement, budget and long-range plan for Westchester Children’s Association for use in approaching prospects for six figure gifts
• Designed and implemented a system of direct mail membership solicitation and analysis for both Africa Fund and The American Committee on Africa
• Created the first Major Gifts and Planned Giving Programs for the Girl Scout Council of Greater New York
• Established first annual fund campaign for St. Hilda’s and St. Hugh’s Episcopal School; set up systems to retrieve and cultivate alumni, and to acknowledge and appreciate donors
SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT
• Set up procedures to facilitate receiving, processing, evaluating and administering grant applications for two New York City Foundations (The Bay and Paul Foundations) with combined assets of $42 million
• Developed and monitored a system at The African-American Institute for tracking the careers of African graduates following completion of degree programs at American universities
MARKETING
• Coordinated the sales force of 23,000 girls and 7,000 adult volunteers to increase the sale of Girl Scout Cookies from $1 million to $2 million over five years, including starting corporate on-site sales
• Positioned The Mentoring Partnership of New York as the centralized mentoring resource capable of providing brokerage, initial assessment and support to organizations and corporations who wanted to start on-site mentoring programs
FUND DEVELOPMENT
• Raised $1.2 million in 12 months from Board, doctors, staff and vendors for the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center’s Capital Campaign
• Developed and implemented a three-year plan at the Girl Scout Council of Greater New York to increase annual operating revenues of $4 million; raised $1 million at the Corporate Dinner; and eliminated a $300,000 deficit
• Tripled Aspira, Inc. of New Jersey’s corporate contributors; doubled its foundation donors; and eliminated its three-year-old deficit
• Exceeded The Brooklyn Hospital Center’s Capital Campaign employee goal by 30%
• Enabled Aspira, St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s, and St. Matthew’s & St. Timothy’s to secure funding on an on-going basis resulting in their hiring in-house development staff
PUBLIC RELATIONS
• Developed a media campaign at the National Mentoring Partnership to enhance awareness of the urgency of mentoring and to increase the number of adult volunteers
• Designed, implemented and supervised a comprehensive public relations program for Aspira, Inc, of New Jersey, including annual reports, quarterly newsletters, membership campaigns, and an annual corporate luncheon
• Produced on-going direct mail campaigns and radio and TV public service announcements that helped the National Committee Against Discrimination in Housing triple its membership and achieve national prominence
• Coordinated the dedication and celebration for the completion of the rebuilding and modernization program of The Brooklyn Hospital Center
TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
• Mentored two Executive Directors of Aspira, Inc. of New Jersey in how to become successful management, fund development and public relations executives
• Created and conducted workshops for chamber musicians from fifteen states in fundraising, public relations, and management for Chamber Music America
